I was fortunate enough to grow up in a family with a legacy of faith in God. It wasn't until college however that I realized for myself, even though it was faithfully told to me before, that this God wasn't merely a Benevelont Being to belive in, but actually a Self-Revealing, Personal God who wanted to know me personally and cared deeply about who I was and was becoming. I saw this God in living color in the Person of Jesus Christ as described in the writings concerning his life. I saw a God who knew me better than I knew myself, and yet a God who also wanted me to know Him and so took on skin and bones in order to do just that. Witnessing his love and his holiness as he interacted with normal people like myself sparked within me a desire to genuinely and intimately get to know this guy Jesus, and trust Him not only for the forgiveness of my past and present sin but also my hopes and dreams for the future.
I was also fortunate enough to have someone in my life during this time who modeled what this relationsh
ip with God looked like in the up-close and personal living color of my freshman dorm floor. We became great friends and through this friendship, began to see what friendship with God looked like in everyday practice. I hope to be a similar leader and friend in the lives of others and that is why I am working with Campus Outreach at Radford University, where I'm trusting this story will be multiplied many times over.
