From an early age, I’ve been surrounded by people who love God and told me about Him. When I was young, I prayed to accept Jesus as my savior, but I thought being a Christian was more about
doing things for God than
knowing Him like you’d know a close friend.
I left home for college at UNC-Charlotte and loved being out on my own, but towards the end of my freshman year I started to feel empty and missed the stability and joy I’d always seen in my parents’ lives. I decided I needed something better to live for than having fun or having a successful career. I got involved with Campus Outreach and through studying the Bible and seeing the way other Christians knew God, I finally realized that God was offering me an amazing gift: a close relationship with Himself! I gave Him control of my life and have found that everything else in life pales in comparison to knowing Jesus.
As my love for Jesus has grown, I’ve had an increasing desire for others to know Him, too. I’m eager
to obey Jesus’ command to “go and make disciples,” and I feel privileged to be sharing my life with students at Virginia Tech!
